Bury Me Standing
Released June 8, 2026
Some people spend their whole lives being told they won't make it. They get counted out, pushed down, buried under everything life throws at them. But there is a kind of defiance that doesn't need permission—it simply refuses to stay down. Bury Me Standing is about surviving long enough to become the thing that couldn't be buried.

Floodlights go dark, people disappear, money stays tight, and goodbyes become part of the landscape. Growing up around that kind of pressure leaves marks that don't disappear when the years move on.
Every scar carries something that never completely healed. Every loss leaves a voice behind. And when the whole town has spent years counting someone out, eventually the counting stops mattering. Being underestimated becomes familiar. Being doubted becomes fuel. The same name people once dismissed becomes the one they don't want to hear coming.
The song lives in that dangerous space between exhaustion and defiance. There is pain underneath the anger, but the pain never gets the final word. The smoke, the blood, the bad luck, the years of fighting—none of it managed to put the fire out.
There is no promise that the road gets easier. No church can erase everything that happened. No grave can undo a life that refused to surrender. The past stays there, but so does the strength that came from surviving it.
Even the storm becomes something familiar. Thunder isn't a warning anymore. It's almost a companion. The harder life pushes, the deeper the roots become. The fight isn't about proving something to the world anymore. It's about refusing to let the world take the last piece of freedom.
And underneath all the rage is exhaustion. Being strong for too long leaves its own kind of wound. There are prayers that died unanswered, nights when the weight became almost impossible to carry, and moments when laying down would have been easier.
But the ground never got the final word.
The dirt can fall.
The storm can come.
The world can try to bury everything that remains.
Still breathing.
Still standing.
Bury me standing.
I was raised where the floodlights die Blue collar ghosts and a hard goodbye Backseat smoke on a county line Mama said “boy don’t lose your mind” Every scar still burns my skin Every loss still lives within Whole damn town kept countin’ me out Now they shake when they hear my name Go ahead—load the hammer Go ahead—say my name I’ve been crawling through the fire Now I dance inside the flames Bury me standing Boots still black and my fists still swinging Bury me standing Whole damn world still can’t kill me Try to break me Try to hang me Watch that dirt fall off me If I die tonight I die demanding— Bury me standing Smoke in my lungs and blood on my hands Bad luck running straight through my veins Ain’t no church gonna wash me clean Ain’t no grave gonna bury me deep When the storm rolls over the ridge I’m the outlaw they never forget Still got fire under my skin Still too damn mean to quit Go ahead—load the hammer Go ahead—take your shot I’ve been fighting with the thunder Since the day that I could walk Bury me standing Boots still black and my fists still swinging Bury me standing Whole damn world still can’t kill me Try to break me Try to hang me Watch that dirt fall off me If I die tonight I die demanding— Bury me standing Let the sky crack open Let the river flood I’ve been tired since I was seventeen With gasoline running through my blood Every prayer I had died in my chest But I still ain’t laid down yet Bury me standing Fists still clenched and the crowd still screaming Bury me standing Cold hard ground still couldn’t keep me Try to break me Try to hang me Watch that dirt fall off me If I die tonight I die demanding— Bury me standing Still breathing when they bury me standing
